Entry-Level Training (5 Hours)

  2. Terms of Employment: Attendance policies, workplace expectations, wage and hour rules, timekeeping, safety policies, and employment requirements.
 
Safety Training (3 Hours)
  1. Basic Safety Precautions – 1.5 Hours: Fall prevention, home hazards, safe mobility assistance, caregiver safety. 
  2. Emergency Procedures – 1 Hour:  Emergency response, disaster situations, medical emergencies, reporting procedures. 
  3. Infection Control – 0.5 Hour: Hand hygiene, standard precautions, personal protective equipment, disease prevention.
 
Annual Training (5 Hours)
Annual training must relate to core caregiving competencies.
 
This curriculum includes:
  1. Client Rights & Client Safety – 1 Hour
  2. Providing and Responding to a Client’s Daily Living Needs – 1 Hour
  3. Abuse & Neglect: Reporting, Prevention, and Detection – 45 Minutes
  4. Assisting with Personal Hygiene & Home Care Services – 1 Hour
  5. Safe Transportation – 15 Minutes: (If transportation services are provided)
  6. Special Care Needs of Clients with Dementia – 1 Hour: Included to prepare agencies for the 2027 dementia training requirement.
